Heart Block- Symptom, Causes, Treatment of Heart Block
Heart Block is the agitation of heart rhythm
occuring
from blockage of the communicate of electrical impulses by the specialised muscle which forms the
leading tissue of the heart. In healthy people the
heart rate is
insured
by the sinoatrial node (pace maker)
placed
in the right atrium (
high
chamber of the heart), that discharges usual impulses which are
transmited
throughout the upper chambers
and to the ventrides (
reduced
chambers of the heart) to
induce
their contraction.
Usually the ventrcles contract about 0.2 seconds ( relying on the heart rate) after the atria. In heart block this
separation is
elevated
beyond 0.22 seconds. This very slight
detain
may
lessen
the heart's
capacity
to pump blood efficiently.
There are
various
degrees of heart block. In first degree heart block, the separation between atrial and ventricular contraction is
extend. Though this does not reason any
difficulty
and is
considered
to be common in well-trained athletes.
In second degree heart block, not all atrial contractions are
ensued
by ventricular contractions, that
produce
in missed beats. In
conclude
heart block, no impetus are conducted from the atria to the ventrides. Although the atria continue to
shrink
at a rate dominated by the pacemaker
consorting
to the patient's activities, the ventrides contract
severally
at a rate of
about 40 beats per minute. In
intense
second degree and
finished
heart block, the heart rate cannot
extend
in response to exercise and other circum stances (such as fever) which
extend
demands on the circulation. This can have
grievous
consequences for the patient
Causes of Heart Block
Heart block may be induced by injury to the heart's conducting tissue
leading
from coro naryartery disease (narrowing of the arteries supplying the heart musde), heart attack, myocarditis (soreness of the heart musde), rheumatic fever, or overdosage of several drugs (
particularly
digoxin). Congenital heart block is
ascribable
to an inborn inadequacy of the heart's conducting tissue.
Symptoms of Heart Block
Fainting, dizziness, weakness, fatigue and breathlessness on exertion are
frequent
in
finished
heart block. Acute heart failure
is a contingency.
Treament of Heart Block
If the reason of heart block cannot be
rectified, an artificial pacemaker is fitted.
