Glomerulonephritis - Symptom, Causes, Treatment of Glomerulonephritis
Glomerulonephritis is the irritation of the glomeruli, the
permeating
units of the kidney.
Establish
in the cortex (outer part) of the kidney, glomeruli are microscopic cups which filter out fluid and
fritter
products from the blood which
flows by the capillaries inside them. If the glomeruli
transform
inflamed, they are
incapable
to work effectively, and they
provide
the loss of proteins fromthe blood into the urine.
Glomerulonephritis
(that used to be known as Bright's disease) may be acute or chronic, and can give rise to a lot's of symptoms depending on the extent and rate of progress of the soreness.
Causes of Glomerulonephritis
Glomerulonephritis can
refine
inevitable
bacterial, viral or parasitic infections,
specially
streptococcal infection of the throat or
upper airways in children and young adults. Antigens (proteins which
induce
antibody production) on the surface of infecting organisms
reason
an immune response which
usually
overcomes the infection. But if
resistant
complexes (antigen-anti-body combinations) are deposited in the glomerular capillaries, glomerulonephritis
produce.
This disorder may also
acquire
in diseases such as systemic LUPUS ERY HEMATOSIS, some cancers and blood disorders and as a reaction to certain drugs or poisons.
Symptoms of Glomerulonephritis
Glomerulonephritis which
produce
from an infection develops 1 to 6 weeks later on its onset. The rate of onset and increase of'symptoms are very changeable.
Approximately half of all patients
sustain
no symptoms, and the situation is discovered by chance when the urine is examined for several other causes. Symptoms which may
appear
include puffiness of the face (
particularly
close to
the eyes) which may be followed by more
general
OEDEMA (accumulation of
immoderate
fluid in tissues)
decreased
urine production dark or smoky urine (due to leakage of red blood cells by the glomeruli), headache, and occasionally blunt
pain in the loins.
Diagnosis of Glomerulonephritis
If glomerulonephritis is
pretend, the diagnosis can be
sustained
by urine and blood tests; sometimes kidney biopsy is
required.
Treatment of Glomerulonephritis
Except for gentle cases, admission to hospital is
suggested. Treatment
rely on
the cause and rigidity of kidney damage and includes rest, antibiotics or antiparasitic drugs if
confiscate
ORTICOSTEROID DRUGS to
decrease irritation. IMMUNOSUPPRESSANT DRUGS, and in severe cases PLASMAPHERESIS to displace harmful immune complexes from the blood, if kidney failure
produce, DLALYSIS (artificial filtering of waste products from the blood) may be
essential.
Out look of Glomerulonephritis
Most children who
produce
gentle glomerulonephritis,
later on streptococcal infection recover from, it adequately. In more
life-threatening cases of glomerulonephritis' from any cause, there may be a
rapid or gradual progression to KIDNEY FAILURE, and ongoing dialysis or kidney transplant will be required.
